Balrampur | Correspondent: Three human skeletons in an isolated long-abandoned brick kiln in Dahejwar village under the City Kotwali police station area of Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh.
Skulls, bones from other parts of the body were discovered after which panic among the locals spread.
Villagers who were harvesting paddy near the kiln on Friday noticed the pieces of bones scattered in several places and immediately informed the police.
Officers reached the spot, sealed the place and investigation was instructed.
It was suspected that animals or stray dogs may have spread the bones around the area.
Forensic experts and a dog squad have been called in to assist with the investigation.
The skeletons appear to be old, and DNA testing may be conducted if necessary to identify them.
In a related development, police revealed that a woman named Kaushalya Thakur along with her two children, daughter Muskaan Thakur (17), and Son Mintu Thakur (8) have been reported missing and never returned.
Kaushalya Thakur, wife of Suraj Dev Thakur, a resident of Kusmi ward 1 had left her home that day with her children to visit the market but never returned.
Missing persons report was filed at Kusmi police station.
Although it is suspected that the discovered skeletons are of the missing members of the family, but confirmation is awaited pending further inquiry and forensic analysis.
