Raipur | Correspondent: Jawans stationed in the Chhattisgarh Maoist-affected areas are losing more lives to heart attacks and other illnesses than to direct encounters with Naxal insurgents.
In Bastar, majorly mosquitoes were once primarily blamed for the deaths of the soldiers deployed on the Maoist front, with a significant number of soldiers succumbing to Malaria.
Even after addressing this issue, factors such as uncertainty, extended working hours, and prolonged, exhausting operations, along with concerns about family and home, continue to take a toll on the health of soldiers.
Despite the ongoing central force constantly trying to alleviate the stress and anxiety that plague these soldiers, it seems these measures have not had any significant impacts.
The figures of martyrdom of Central Security Force personnel including state policemen reveal that a total of 52 personnel deployed on the Maoist front died in Maoist attacks in 2019, 43 in 2020 and 50 in 2021.
However, during the same period, the Central Armed Police Force alone saw 84 personnel die in 2019, a total of 130 in the year 2020, and 129 in 2021 due to heart attacks or other illnesses.
